Amy Roberts Blog: 30 degrees in March!

Racing in 30 degree sun in March.. that’s not something I’ve said before that’s for sure.

It’s been a nice start to the season, like I said in my last blog I was in for some different races this season and I’ve really liked it.

Earlier this month I did Strade Bianche in Italy. This was one of the biggest races I have done so was pretty nervous. It’s also a tough one with many gravel roads.. but a race I enjoyed and would like to do again. This year was extra special as our Italian Elisa won. The whole team did a great job and the spirits were obviously high afterwards.

The day after we had a local Italian race that Giorgia had told us about so 4 of us did that. Was a nice race with a hard finishing lap but another good day on the bike. Also a bonus with Gio coming in 3rd.

The evening of this we all headed back to Giorgia’s home town, where she was nice enough to let Audrey and I stay in her apartment for the night and for her and Mayuko to be at her parents house. We had a nice evening going out for a meal with some of Gio’s family and then a chilled and fun rest day on the Monday before flying to Valencia. We spend it riding into the city on town bikes to have breakfast and do a bit of shopping and then headed back to Gio’s parents where her mum had cooked us her very good risotto for lunch.

We’re now in to the last day of Tour of Valencia.. like i said, it’s been hot!! It was a bit of a shock to the system, even with having raced in Australia I’m not really sure any of us were expecting it. So that has made it pretty tough, along with some nice climbs in there. We’re hoping to finish it off with a stage win so we will see what we can do today.

Catch you all soon, Amy.
