Annette Edmondson was born on the 12 December, 1991 in Bedford Park, Australia. “Nettie” is an Australian cyclist who races on both the track, and on the road.

Despite already participating in three soccer teams, playing volleyball, basketball, athletics and swimming Edmondson decided to gave cycling a go. A sport she is still enjoying despite a short break from cycling in 2010.

The 22 year old is a part of the new generation of Australian athletes who are rising to the top of women’s cycling, together with the likes of Tiffany Cromwell, Chloe Hosking, Amanda Spratt and Gracie Elvin. Despite lots of national track titles in various events her biggest results to date are achieved on the track with two gold medals at the 2015 World Track Championships in France (Omnium/Team Pursuit), Two gold medals at the 2016 Oceania Championships (Team Pursuit/Madison) and a bronze medal in the Omnium event at the 2012 London Olympics and the Gold medal in the scratch at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.

On the road she won the 2013 Tour of Chongming Island, the prestigious stage in the Lotto Belgium Tour in Geraardsbergen (2013) and a stage in the Santos Tour Down Under (2016). She also won a silver medal in the Team Time Trial with Orica-AIS at the 2014 World Championships in Ponferrada, Spain.

In 2016 Nettie was focused to win a medal at the Rio Olympics but a training crash of the team pursuit team ruined the chances to win a medal. However Nettie won a stage in her own Adelaide in the Santos Tour Down Under in January. In 2017 Edmondson will combine the track with more road races again.

Nettie’s all-round talent on different type of terrains coupled with her selfless devotion to her teammates makes her an indispensable member of the team.
