Macey Stewart Blog: Missing Europe Already!

After a below average start to 2018 and yet another ‘come back’ from the come back queen over here, I headed off to Europe for a fresh start on the road with Wiggle High5.

When I left Australia I had one race on my calendar for the entire season, the Tour of California. I was questioning whether there was any point in me uplifting my whole life and going way out of my comfort zone moving to Europe for one definite race start. Not going to lie, there were many tears shed with mum, fearing the unknown.

Boy am I thankful I got on that plane! My new housemate Georgia Williams, who I met for the first time on my arrival in Girona, turned out to be the best housemate ever, and thanks to her I had made friends with my soon to be adopted family within my first few hours in town.My one scheduled race in California turned into several races in different countries, nearly every weekend. Although spending half my time travelling wasn’t great for my physical health and fitness, it allowed me so much world-class race experience on the road and track that I have lacked in the past few years. While ticking many new countries off the list, I got to turn teammates that I hardly knew into true friends/fellow spice girls, that I now cherish wonderful memories with.

After what turned out to be the best few months of my life, within the blink of an eye, I have returned home to Australia, very briefly visited home and have now moved life once again to my new base in Adelaide, South Australia.

It’s now time for me to get into some routine again and refocus on my track goals, working towards Tokyo 2020 Olympics. Luckily I’ll be back in Europe for Paris World Cup at the end of October, so I wont have time to miss it too much!

Here’s to another new chapter I plan to attack with my new self-appointed title of Vibe Master… I’ll explain that one in my next blog! 😉
