Amy Cure Blog: My favourite recipes

As a professional athlete your diet plays a huge role in training. It’s important to be putting the right food in your body so that you can get out of your body what you need. When your body does not get the nutrients it needs, your immune system can become weak and your risk of illness will increase. When you’re putting the right food and nutrients in your body you will find yourself having more energy, gaining more muscles and recover even faster after exercise. So here are a few of my super easy favourite training...

Amy Cure Blog: Back on track post injury

It’s nice to finally be back racing after what seemed a long and frustrating time away from the bike after the Track World Championships in Hong Kong. After having two weeks completely off the bike post World Championships, I started my training preparation for the Tour of California which was my first race back on the road. I decided I wanted to try and get my fitness back as soon as possible. I think this was not the best idea. I did a lot of training, maybe too much training, and just as I left for the Tour of California I started to...

Amy Cure Blog: Creating history at the Track World Championships

The recent Track World Championships were a little bit bittersweet for me. I was very excited going into the Worlds this year. It was the first year that we were focusing more on individual events opposed to the Team Pursuit. The UCI created history by including one new event for women at the Championships – the Madison. Also the Omnium was raced over a completely different format to normal. We still went in with an open mind in the Team Pursuit, but not knowing what we would expect from ourselves given the slightly different focus. We...

Amy Cure Blog: ‘Carry On’ Travel Essentials

When you are traveling a lot overseas you quickly learn what is best to put into your carry on bag. Here are my must have items that I like to always have with me flying, and the reasons why.  1. Passport – This is an obvious one as you can’t go to far without your passport. 2. Pen – I have a special pen that I always travel with me and take everywhere. This is always great to have for when you have to fill out custom forms when entering into a country. Its amazing how many people forget this, it also means you can fill out your...

Amy Cure Blog: Flying Around The World In Search Of Gold

This month has been a hectic month for me. I have been very busy with a lot of flying around the world – good thing I love racing and what I do. I have had a lot of racing ICI Track World Cups in Cali, Columbia and Los Angeles, USA as well as Australia Championships in Brisbane on the new Anna Mears Velodrome – the same velodrome we will be racing during the 2018 commonwealth Games. So it has been a very exciting month to look forward to.  I have been quite nervous leading into the UCI Track World Cups if I am totally honest...

Blog: Dealing with disappointment, staying positive & moving forward

By Amy Cure I often get asked about my disappointment from the Rio de Janeiro Olympic Games. The feeling of settling into the village was great – receiving all our clothes and being able to train on the Olympic velodrome. It was something very special. Training was going very well until three days out from competition. We were involved in a training crash at 60km/hr that left three out of us four girls who crashed battling from hematomas, bruises and a lot of missing skin. We were all a bit shaken up, however we managed to walk away with...
