Emma Johansson Blog: Almost Half Way

2017 has been a roller coaster in so many ways. Thanks to Wiggle-High5 I have had the opportunity to retire in (my opinion) the best way. To hang the race bike aside but still have the training bike doing their kilometers… I have been able to still be in the “big arena” thanks to them and I have been at lots of races this season, following and supporting from the sideline. In the back of my head I have had my new goal all the time. To create a bigger family has not been as easy as you might think. Especially after doing top sport for so...

Emma Johansson Blog: Rainbows right outside my window

So strange not preparing for the most important race of the year. Worlds Championships coming up and this year it’s actually in my back yard. Norway, the country I live in, is the host for this magic event this time and I won’t even be there… For the first time in 10 years I’m preparing very differently as I have a new role in commentating instead of racing. Bergen is know for their rainy days and we all know you need rain (and sun) to create rainbows. This last week it’s been pouring down in the whole of norway and I...

Emma Johansson Blog: Our house becoming our HOME

Sitting in the car outside the airport awaiting Martin.  He’s coming back from a race, another race as a Sports Director for Wiggle High5. Last year it was the other way around and I can’t make up my mind whether I like this new role change that we have done or not. To be more at home this year has it’s advantages and our home (that we bought in February last year) is really becoming HOME. I/we have had some time to renovate and that really helps making it ours. To give you an idea about what we have been up to I have...

Emma Johansson Blog: A very different winter!

Lets play this game; I have never ever… Been home so few days during my “off season” Seen so many exotic places Met so many new people in such short time Made so many new friends Been this unfit in February… To say this winter has been different is a understatement.  It has been crazy and I can’t wait to tell you (show you) more about it when I’m allowed. My Swedish followers already know but for the rest of you I can tell you it has mostly been about recording two TV shows in different countries. The...

Emma Johansson Blog: When the leaves fall

Autumn is my favourite season. The combination of colours, fresh mornings and sunny days are perfect. That autumn is off season for us cyclist might probably be the biggest factor in why I love it so much… To train what I feel like and the diet does not need to be that strict anymore. Even though my secret weapon during the year is to not gain to much weight during the off season. 2,5kg have been my golden rule and I have made the scales my friend by going on it every morning Like that I never have to focus on it during the springtime...

Emma Johansson Blog: Birthdays – Just a number

September has been the big month of birthdays for my Wiggle High5 team! When I was a kid I loved birthdays and all that came along with it… To wake up in the morning with my whole family singing the birthday song next to my bed with cake and gifts in their arms. Getting one year older was always something that I looked forward to. Maybe because of the cake and gifts but also because I wanted to be older for some reason?! Moving away from home for school already when I was 16 years old changed some of my birthday celebrations. The cake...

Emma Johansson Blog: Carneval!

Rio de Janeiro you’ve been real! Three weeks in Brazil have passed so fast. But I must admit that when I got stuck at the airport in Portugal on my way home i wanted to cry. No matter what there is no place like home! Going into the Olympics I worked very hard. I knew that the course was very challenging and that the final climb was long… Maybe even too long for me! Specific preparation as simulating that climb on the ergo, working on my weight in combination with my mental preparation was what made the difference for me. I managed...

Emma Johansson Blog: Count Down!

Today the Olympic RoadRace is exactually 2 weeks away. Preparations have been going well and form is on it’s way. Thuringen Rundfahrt was a perfect last race and I came out of that stage race feeling strong. So expectations are high for my last Olympic Games. I expect to be abel to do my absolut best and to be abel to dig deep. How far that will reach only time can tell… But if I can be the absolute best of me on that race in two weeks time I must be satisfied no matter what! So that is my goal, to be the very best Me! Wish me...

Emma Johansson Blog: Double @ Nationals!

Every race that I choose to do is important to me. So whether it’s world championships or a smaller race in Belgium or somewhere else doesn’t matter. If I’m at the start you will always see me giving my very best. So when last weeks national championships was on the program of course I was there to race full gas as I always do. Some might think that just because I have been Swedish champion so many times and because most people are so used to see me in the blue and yellow jersey that it’s easy to bring it home. But that...

Emma Johansson Blog: Miss Consistent

As from the latest UCI ranking 22 may, I’m still on the top step. People call me Miss Consistent and guess thats a good explanation to me topping the ranking. For those who have no idea about the ranking system I will give you a short explanation. There are different levels of the races, World Tour (highest level) 1.1 (one day race, level 1) 1.2 (stage race, level 1) 2.1 (one day race, level 2) and 2.2 (stage race, level 2). Hope it makes some sence?! So depending on the race you collect a different amount of points from your...
